The Association's

Mission is to:

  • Empower members to make a positive impact on Africa and the world through Earth Observation and Geoinformation Technology.
  • Drive innovation in the field of Earth Observation and Geoinformation Technology by fostering collaboration and knowledge sharing among members.
  • Build a strong community of like-minded professionals who are passionate about Earth Observation and Geoinformation Technology.
  • Foster collaboration among members, industry partners, and other stakeholders to achieve common goals.
  • Make a tangible impact on society and the environment through the application of scientific knowledge and technology.
  • Lead the way in advancing the field and setting standards for excellence.

  • Promote and organize public meetings and congresses with scientific reports in order to improve the appreciation of the advantages of technology, in particular remote sensing and geographic information system (GIS) in the pursuit of an African priority program for economic recovery and sustainable development;
  • Assist its members as well as national, regional and international user communities by disseminating timely scientific, technical, policy and programmatic information in all aspects of space science and technology;
  • Provide a forum for addressing issues of common interest through conferences, seminars and workshops;
  • Bring together experts in remote sensing, GIS and environmental sciences and promote exchanges;
  • Exchange views and ideas on Earth observation and geoinformation systems technology, systems, policies and services applicable to Africa’s development;
  • Improve education and training in EO systems and geospatial science and collect, evaluate and disseminate the results of remote sensing activities worldwide.
